Following their well-received Fall 2015 tour, Dead & Company kicked off a 24-show Summer tour this past weekend with shows in Charlotte and at Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Music Festival. Bonnaroo featured appearances by former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux and a setlist for the ages. Following the Bonnaroo “Touch of Grey” encore, Bob Weir noted the mass shooting at an LGBT bar in Orlando early Sunday, citing a politician who used biblical verses to blame the bar’s patrons, and urging the audience to register to vote. Earlier in the day, Weir accepted the first annual Les Paul Spirit Award for Innovation and Achievements with a similar speech.
